At Recovery Inc., we believe that performance is not only built through training. It is also protected and enhanced through effective recovery.
Recently, our team had the opportunity to support Welwyn Garden City FC during a demanding period of their competitive schedule. With multiple fixtures and training sessions taking place each week, recovery becomes a key part of maintaining player performance, reducing injury risk, and ensuring players can consistently perform at their best.
Supporting Players Through Structured Recovery
The session was delivered at Rise Gym and was designed and led by Tom Dickie and Alex from Recovery Inc.
The aim of the session was simple.
Help players reset physically following competition and prepare their bodies for the next training cycle.
The squad worked through a structured recovery and mobility session that focused on three key areas.
1. Mobility and Movement Restoration
Players completed guided mobility work targeting the hips, hamstrings, groin and thoracic spine. These areas often become restricted during intense match play.
2. Stretch and Tissue Recovery
Using mats, stretch bands and bodyweight positions, the group worked through progressive stretches designed to reduce muscle tightness and improve range of motion.
3. Core Stability and Injury Prevention
The session finished with core activation exercises designed to improve trunk stability and support the demands of football specific movements such as sprinting, turning and kicking.
This combination allows players to reduce fatigue, restore movement quality and prepare their bodies for the next physical demand.
